PDF Creator

PDF Creator is an application used commercially to convert documents into Portable Document Format (PDF) on Microsoft Windows operating systems. It is one of the most excellent programs creating PDF files from any application and is used as printer in Star Calc, Word or any other Windows application.

It creates a virtual printer that prints to PDF files. And then, allows the formation of PDF files by directing to print from within the application to the PDF Creator printer. Though PDF Creator can be installed as a virtual printer, it can be connected with .ps files to manually to change PostScript to PDF format. The application is printed in Microsoft Visual Basic and is freely distributed to the public. Though it works mostly 32-bit code internally, it works with 64-bit and 32-bit Windows versions including Windows 7. The Ghost script manages the actual PDF generation. With the help of PDF Creator, the printing is disabled, text or images are copied and the original documents are modified by the user. To restrict PDF files, between two types of passwords user and owner can be selected by the user, the former to open the PDF file and the latter to change permissions and password. For, Adobe Acrobat 3.0 or 4.0, the encryption can be 40 bits while for Acrobat 5.0 or higher it can be 128 bits.

PDF Creator helps to access its functionality through an ActiveX/COM interface in version 0.8.1 RC9 (2005). Due to this the programs can be written in other languages, like C#, Delphi, Visual Basic, .NET, VBA, Perl, Python, Ruby, Win Batch, Windows Scripting Host (JScript, VBScript). As a result PDF Creator can be utilized and controlled programmatically. It gives support to the version 0.9.6, version 0.9.7 Windows Vista and Windows 7. PDF Creator can change to the following file formats: EPS, TXT, PSD, PCL, RAW, PDF (including PDF/A (1b) and PNG, JPEG, BMP, PCX, PDF/X (X-3:2002, X-3:2003 and X-4), TIFF, PS. It supports PDF documents to be signed digitally. A closed-source browser toolbar is included in the installation package which is considered by many users to be malicious software. It is officially an optional component, where the opt-out procedure is a multi-step process which is considered by many to be purposely mystifying. The toolbar permits one-click creating PDF from the existing webpage and includes it in the search tool.

7-Zip

7-Zip is an open source file archive intended initially for Microsoft Windows which can be used freely. It is distributed under the GNU Lesser General Public License. 7-Zip was zealously established by Igor Pavlov and was begun in the year 1999. The SourceForge.net 2007 community choice awards awarded 7-Zip as the victor for "Technical Design" and "Best Project". As 7-Zip functions with the 7z archive format, it can interpret and write down several new archive formats. This program can be used from a command line interface, graphical user interface, or Windows shell integration.

Almost every computer can use 7-Zip. Even a computer in a commercial organization can use 7-Zip. No registration or payment is required for usingthis program. It is associated to p7zip which is a cross-platform port. The GNU LGPL license brings majority of the source code under it. For Example,the GNU LGPL + unRAR restrictions bring unRAR code under a mixed license. 7-Zip can function in / Vista / XP / 98 / 2000 / 2003/ 2008 Windows 7/ME / NT. UNIX / Linux have a port of the command line version associated to it. 7z format archives is created by default with a 7z file extension in 7-Zip. Every archive includes multiple directories and files. Security or size reduction is accomplished by means of a loaded combination of filters because of container format. These contain encryption filters, compression algorithms, and pre-processors. 7z file format is naturally an open and modular format. The entire filenames are supplied like Unicode.

The source code of the program distributes 7z file format specification officially. 7z file format originates as plain text format in the doc\ subdirectory of the source code distribution. The data used for the tests is the main criteria to find the Compression ratio results. 7-zip can be easily compressed to 7z format than to zip format. When compared to zip compatible programs 7-Zip can be easily compressed to zip format.

GZIP, TAR, 7z, , ZIP and WIM, XZ, BZIP2 etc, are the formats where 7-Zip supports Packing / unpacking. Whereas CAB, CHM ,ARJ, DEB, , FAT, HFS, ISO, LZH, , CPIO, Z, WIM, XAR, CramFS, LZMA, NSIS, SquashFS, UDF, NTFS, RAR, RPM, VHD, and DMG etc, are formats where only Unpacking is supported. 7-Zip provides a compression ratio of 2-10 % for ZIP and GZIP formats which is much better than the ratio supplied through PKZip and WinZip. It has strong AES-256 encryption in 7z and ZIP formats and also has self-extracting capability for 7z format. It can easily integrate with Windows Shell. It is a Powerful File Manager and has Powerful command line version. It can easily be plugged-in for FAR Manager. It has Localizations for 79 languages

If the pathname is very long, about 1 kilobyte or more memory is essential per file. For doing the actual compression, the file listing alone can grow to an order of extent larger than the memory required. Since the memory requirements go beyond the 2 GiB process limit, 32-bit systems cannot compress more than a million or so files in one archive .As such, in 64-bit systems, the process size limitation is not the same. But for defeating this limitation several gigabytes of RAM is required. The machines with less memory cannot open Archives formed on it.

CD Ripper

CDex is a CD Ripper or a CDDA utility. It is free software licensed under the GNU General Public License. CDex is able to convert CD audio into several formats including WAV, Vorbis, MP3 (using the LAME encoder), VQF, Musepack, APE, and many others. As of version 1.70b2 FLAC encoding is native. But in case of version 1.51 FLAC and other codec can be used by using an external encoder. With reduced user effect, it supports CD Text to allow ripped tracts to have the name of songs, artists and albums. cdparanoia is also included for robust CD reading.

CDex is a CD ripper or CDDA utility which extracts digital audio data from an Audio CD. Many audio encoders like MPEG (MP2, MP3) VQF, AAC encoders are supported by this application. The digital audio data extracted from an audio CD can be a plain WAV file (useful making compilation audio CDs).

The ripped audio data can be compressed using an audio encoder like LAME MP3 encoder, Internal MP2 encoder, APE Lossles audio format, Ogg Vorbis encoder, the Windows MP3 encoder, FAAC encoder etc. Besides this the WAV files on the hard drive can be converted to compress Audio File (vice versa). Many audio file tag formats like the ID3VI AND ID3V2tags which are automatically inserted are supported by CDex.

Sweet Home 3D is a free interior design application with the intention of helping to place our furniture on a 2D plan house, with a 3D preview. This software is distributed under GNU General Public License which is used even for commercial purpose. This program is actually intended for those who want to design their interior quickly. It is for those who are moving or just want to redesign their existing home. Abundant visual guides are present that assist to draw the plan of our home and layout furniture.

On the image of an existing plan, we can draw the walls of our rooms and subsequently, drag and drop furniture onto the plan from a catalog prearranged by categories. Each change in the 2D plan is simultaneously updated in the 3D view shows a realistic rendering of our layout. There are many features of Sweet Home 3D. The mouse or the keyboard is used to draw straight, round or sloping walls with precise dimensions. Photorealistic images and videos are created with the ability to customize lights and control sunlight effect according to the time of day and geographic location. Home blueprint is imported to draw walls upon it, 3D models to complete default catalogue, and textures to customize surfaces. PDF, bitmap or vector graphics images, videos and 3D files are printed and exported in standard file formats. The features of Sweet Home 3D are extended with plug-ins programmed in Java, or by developing a derived version based on its Model View Controller architecture. Even the language displayed in the user interface of Sweet Home 3D can be chosen.
